Intercom

Connect Intercom so conversations flow in automatically, and upload history as a file.

Intercom is a one-click connector: you authorize access once, and Dimension Labs pulls new conversations on a schedule. There’s no code to run.

  1. In the app, go to Data Sources and add a source under Unstructured data.
  2. Choose Intercom and sign in to Intercom to authorize access.
  3. New conversations arrive with the connector’s scheduled pulls. As a live integration, they are enriched automatically every day.

The connector brings in conversations from the day you connect. For earlier conversations, get them out of Intercom (for example with Intercom’s Conversations API, or a file your team already exports), shape them with Files from any tool, and upload the file. An upload is its own source in Data Sources. Then run a backfill from the Backfill tab.

  • The conversation messages, customer and agent or bot turns, with timestamps.
  • Customer attributes from Intercom, including custom attributes such as plan, tier or VIP level, and location.
  • Customer custom attributes from Intercom are available to the agent, so you can ask for breakdowns by plan or tier: “Compare top contact reasons for VIP and non-VIP customers.”
  • Each Intercom conversation is one conversation in Dimension Labs. To join Intercom data to another source or a business data table, ask the agent which Intercom fields it has for your workspace, and join on an id both sides share, such as your own external user id or a company id that matches your CRM’s account id. Don’t join on email addresses. Ask the agent to show the join it used.
