Backfill
Users may enrich historical data for either standard or custom dimensions using the backfill module.
In Dimension Labs, a backfill is the process of running a custom or standard dimension across historical data so that older documents receive the same enrichment (labels) as new data flowing into the platform on a daily basis.
It’s how you retroactively bring past records up to the current analytical standard.
What a backfill actually does
A backfill:
- Selects historical documents
- Runs prompt(s) on documents in the selected timeframe
- Stores labels permanently
- Makes those labels available across the platform
